WELCOME TO TREMBLING CREEK, MONTANA! [/b][/i]
Est. 1839
In 1839 the little town of Trembling Creek was founded by a group of lively, gold-hungry miners. Soon after arriving, they built their vast mines which are still in contact today. He city soon grew to a population of 3,000 people in 1904. Mining was booming more than ever by 1920. Gold had been found in 1878 and the thrill of finding treasure was found in the blood of this young and new generation. In 1923, despite of the warning of the old-timers, the mine continued to expand. Since America had just started to allow emigrants into the country, they were taking a good share of jobs.
There was some talk of closing down the mine so the foreigners wouldn’t be able to invade anymore. Around 6 months later after the rumor floated through town, a horrible accident occurred. One day during the busiest time of the work shift, the beams of the fairest corner of the mine collapsed. Unfortunately, that was where most of the workers were located. Out of the 139 workers, only 62 of them survived. Soon after the incident occurred and the unidentifiable bodies were taken out of the mine, it was closed down.
Most victims were the loved ones of the many families that still reside in Trembling Creek. The majority of the foreigner’s families went back to their home country after the incident. The few who stayed behind were reminded always of their losses.
85 years later…
Today, Trembling Creek has expanded to a population of 14,000 people and still growing steadily. The mine is closed off and inaccessible by motor vehicles. Residents who have visited the mine have said that you can still hear the desperate scream of the miners, hear them whistling and even hear clacking of their work gear. Some residents believe that these legends are true…..
Around a year ago a few officials from the state decided to come out and re-investigate the scene of the incident at the Willow Slough Mine. After 7 months of careful inspection, they finally found something astonishing. The incident really wasn’t an accident at all…it had been planned… How you might ask they found it was planned? The remaining beams that were found from the incident had been sawed so they’d collapse during the work shift when the carts got guided along them. Families of the lost ones are now outraged. Of course there’s nothing they can quite do about their ancestor’s fate now but there is a battle going on.
The majority of the students at Ice River High School are descendents of the mine workers. Officials are still investigating the scene, but even the students are growing suspicious of one another. The once tight students have now split sides. There are the descendents of the founders of the mine and town, descendents of the foreigners, descendents of the mine’s owners, the new kids in town and the undecided ones. Now they’re split up by these just like cliques. The majority of the blame is going to the mine’s owners descendents.
Now ‘incidents’ have broken out between the citizens. Since Trembling Creek is home to not only some of the world’s finest mountain scenery, but a large number of students ride in competitions. So now there have been reports horses being let out of the barn in the middle of the night, farm equipment being vandalized, even the museum for the town has been broken into.
The most recent and strangest incident is very shocking. A group of students went and messed around the mine one night. They reported missing, and haven’t been found since.
Was it because of the rage of the descendents or were they just trying to get a message across? No one knows. Did the hunger for wealth or the jealousy of the men cause the accident? No one knows. When will the mystery be solved?
